The Institute of Bible & Ministry was conceived back in the mid-1990s by a number of AIM missionaries who were concerned about the continuing theological development of the pastors and evangelists of the Africa Inland Church Tanzania (AICT) after they had left Bible College.  It provides on-going theological and leadership training to these men and women.

The AICT celebrated its centenary in 2009. It was originally founded in the northern regions of Tanzania around Lake Victoria by missionaries of Africa Inland Mission.  In the last few decades there has been concerted migration by the Church into southern non-traditional AICT areas. The Institute of Bible and Ministry seeks to serve these newly formed churches of the AICT Coastal diocese over an area that is twice the size of the UK.

Sanga Sanga Retreat Centre

The Institute of Bible & Ministry in Tanzania was originally a programme of seminars held in rented rooms, but it now has its home at the ever-growing site at Sanga Sanga, near Morogoro.  The development of a Retreat Centre at Sanga Sanga is designed to provide a strategic platform to encourage and support Tanzanian pastors and evangelists. Our vision is for the facilities to provide a place where they can engage with indigenous theological, cultural and development issues that confront them.

Bookings at the Retreat Centre

Sanga Sanga Retreat Centre is also available to organisations, churches and travellers who need accommodation or somewhere to hold meetings and events.  Located on the main Dar-Iringa road, it is an ideal place for an overnight stay.  We have bandas of various sizes in which to hold workshops and meetings.  We can accomodate 13 people in the Retreat House and another 24 in the campsite bandas.  Our campsite is available for booking overnight stays for travellers and tourists and for those planning to safari at the nearby Mikumi National Park.  Our fully equipped kitchen can supply all your catering needs.

In addition, we are in the process of building a large conference centre which, when ready, will be able to seat 200 people, making it ideal for large meetings, special events etc.

'It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.'
